We sell two bison hides, and we kept it to two on purpose. Both are first grade, both are winter weight, and both go through a tannery in the United States where one person works each hide by hand for somewhere between 10 and 15 hours.
The Reserve is the bigger of the two, and the plusher and more flexible one. It's the one people end up wearing around the house or pulling across the bed in winter.
The Select is a size smaller with a thicker, firmer hide. It holds its shape well, so it tends to end up on the floor.
Both hold their shape as rugs and both are soft enough to pull over you.
No two look the same. The color shifts from hide to hide, the markings are never in the same place, and the coat lies differently on each one.

RESERVE
Some pieces make a home feel styled. This one makes it feel lived-in.
Reserve is our most elevated bison hide. A full winter coat that runs up to seven inches deep, hand-selected for a feel that's immediately different. Dense, warm, and deeply soft to the touch, with a natural ombre that runs from near-black at the edges through deep brown, sometimes lightening to blonde along the spine. The kind of texture you instinctively reach for.
Reserve is made to live with you. It elevates a sofa in one move. It transforms a bed into something layered and grounded. It can be worn in the traditional robe-style way. And as a statement rug, it brings warmth and presence without losing that comfort-forward feel.
What sets Reserve apart is the finish. Most buffalo hides sold online are chrome tanned for speed, and it shows in the hand. Ours are vegetable tanned in the United States by one artisan over 10 to 15 hours, using plant-based tannins and time. The result is a hide that's softer in-hand, more natural, and made to be kept for decades.

Select is our winter-weight bison hide with a more structured feel. Still first grade. Just intentionally firmer and thicker in-hand, with a surface that holds its shape beautifully in a space.
This hide is built for structure and presence. It has a dense winter coat up to five inches deep and a thicker, firmer leather underneath, so it lies flat and stays where you put it. It can be draped over a sofa or layered at the foot of a bed, but it shines most when you want that anchored, grounding presence underfoot as a statement rug.
Like Reserve, Select is vegetable tanned in the United States by one artisan over 10 to 15 hours. No chrome, no shortcuts. We choose this method because the finished hide feels more natural and holds up as a long-term home piece.
